Get Inspired at Jamerson Technology Electrical Training Center: Our Student Success Stories

Electrical Training

Electrical Wiring: Various Workshops TBA

This workshop is designed for those with little to no experience who want to understand how power works in a home. We focus on demystifying the "invisible" world of electricity by providing a safe, supervised environment to practice the fundamental skills of a residential installer

Core Learning Objectives:

  • Electrical Fundamentals: Learn the difference between Volts, Amps, and Watts in simple, everyday terms.
  • Safety First: Master the essential "Golden Rules" of electrical safety, including how to use a non-contact voltage tester to ensure a wire is dead before touching it.
  • The Toolkit: Get comfortable using basic electrical tools like wire strippers, linesman pliers, and screwdrivers.
  • Common Devices: Learn how to correctly wire and replace standard household items like single-pole switches, three-way

EV Charging: Various Workshops TBA

This workshop provides a comprehensive mix of theoretical and practical training for planning, permitting, and safely wiring Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). Participants will master the installation of Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers, ensuring all projects meet local electrical codes and performance standards.

Core Learning Objectives:

Site Assessment & Feasibility: Identify cost-effective charger placement and evaluate electrical panel capacity.

  • Hardware & Wiring Lab: Gain hands-on experience mounting, wiring, and configuring diverse charging units.
  • Smart Tech Integration: Learn to manage Wi-Fi/cellular connectivity, RFID access, and load-balancing to protect the grid.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Navigate the complexities of local zoning, permitting, and final inspection checklists.

Solar Panels: Various Workshops TBA

Solar Panel Skill Development This comprehensive workshop equips participants with the essential skills to design, wire, and safely install residential photovoltaic (PV) systems. Through a blend of theory and practical application, attendees will master the technical design of grid-connected rooftop power plants while gaining the expertise needed to prepare professional feasibility reports and project proposals.

Core Learning Objectives:

  • Foundational Knowledge: Understand solar PV components and their electricity generation potential.
  • Technical Design: Gain hands-on experience in designing and simulating grid-connected systems.
  • Project Management: Develop skills in drafting feasibility reports and formal project proposals.
  • Implementation & Safety: Master best practices for installation, testing, and commissioning to ensure system efficiency and safety.

Generator Systems: Various Workshops TBA

This entry-level workshop is designed for those who want to understand how backup power systems work and how they are safely integrated into a home. We skip the high-level engineering and focus on the practical components, safety protocols, and setup basics that every beginner should know.

Core Learning Objectives:

  • The "Power Choice" Basics: Understand the differences between portable, inverter, and whole-home standby generators.
  • Fuel & Safety Fundamentals: Learn about fuel types (Gasoline, Propane, Natural Gas) and the critical "Golden Rule" of ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Safe Connectivity: Learn how to bridge the gap between a generator and a house using extension cords, inlet boxes, and transfer switches.
  • Maintenance 101: Master the basics of oil changes, battery testing, and "exercis
